Pottstown Regional Public Library Strengthens Its Role as a Downtown Anchor with New Development and Communications Director

The Pottstown Regional Public Library has announced the hiring of Rosemary Keane as its new Director of Development and Communications, a move that supports not only the library’s future, but the continued momentum of Downtown Pottstown.

Keane, a Pottstown resident with years of experience serving local nonprofit organizations, brings strong expertise in fundraising, donor stewardship, strategic communications, and community engagement. She most recently served as Communications Director for Schuylkill River Greenways, where she helped advance the organization’s mission through outreach, storytelling, and regional partnerships.

In her new role, Keane will lead the library’s fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement efforts. Her work will help expand philanthropic support, strengthen connections with donors and community partners, and increase awareness of the library’s impact throughout the greater Pottstown region.

“The Pottstown Regional Public Library is a vibrant and vital resource for the Borough of Pottstown and for the surrounding communities,” Keane said in the library’s press release. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to join an engaged team working to improve and preserve it for future generations.”

For the Pottstown Business Improvement District, the library’s continued growth is an important part of a broader vision for a cleaner, safer, more vibrant downtown where commerce, culture, learning, and community life work together. Located in the heart of the Borough, the library serves as a key downtown anchor — bringing families, students, job seekers, seniors, entrepreneurs, and lifelong learners into the district.

The new position was made possible through a generous grant from the Switchpoint Foundation, recognizing the importance of dedicated development leadership in building the library’s long-term financial sustainability. By investing in this role, Switchpoint is helping ensure that the library can continue offering essential programs and services for years to come.

Ashley Abbey, Chair of the Development Committee for the library board, said Keane is joining the organization at a meaningful time.

“Rosemary is joining the library at a pivotal time,” Abbey said. “After several years of strengthening our financial foundation, we are now focused on securing the future through the Clay Ryce Memorial Endowment Fund while preparing for a season of growth. Her experience in fundraising and community engagement will help us build on this momentum and expand the library’s impact throughout the community.”
